A total of two scholarships of $500 each will be awarded. One scholarship will be awarded to a male applicant and one to a female applicant (if there are no applications from one sex both scholarships will go to the other).
A Member in good standing for a minimum of one year
The son, daughter, stepchild, legally adopted child, spouse of a COPE Local 397 Member in good standing
Entering college, university, or a recognized technical or vocational post-secondary school as a full-time student; or
Presently in college, university, or a recognized technical or vocational post-secondary school as a full-time student
Each applicant must file a COPE Local 397 Scholarship Application Form. Applicants must submit an essay of between 250 to 500 words on the labour movement or the benefits of union membership along with their application form.
Selection of Scholarships
Winners will be selected, by draw, at the July Executive Board Meeting. Please see the COPE Local 397 Scholarship poster on the bulletin board in your location.
All applications must be submitted to the Union Office no later than July 6, 2016.
